McCarty Party 2020: MPSN

It was a hot and humid night. Suddenly a shot was poured! The maid screamed. A car door slammed. And someone dressed in a bunny suit appeared on the horizon. While millions of people were sober, the guests at McCarty Party drank in luxury. Meanwhile, on a small farm in Ohio, a boy was growing up.

It was the year of the great pandemic, which we treated like anything else that inconveniences us. We ignored it. Oh sure, we provided cool McCarty Party bandanas for anyone who wanted to mask up… or needed to blow their nose. And we cleverly re-named some of the events (anyone up for “Beer Drinking for Time and Social Distancing”). But in the end we did what we always do, treat the norms of polite society like our personal sock monkeys forced to dance for our entertainment. And we did it with a livestream feed for the first time. Not that we actually encouraged people to stay home and watch the party on TV. Dale just thought it would be cool.

Games were played, and then re-played (because you know, that whole TV thing). Prizes were won. Dignity was lost. And self-respect was invariably misplaced. Some people got drunk. Some people got real. Most people just got real drunk. Another McCarty Party in the books. As the last car drove away, it began to rain. And so our heroes’ day ended as it had begun… enebriated.
