Well okay, no one actually calls us that. But in any case, 1997 was the year that we finally got around to the often-considered (and previously always rejected) Star Wars theme. With the re-release of the original Star Wars trilogy (and the total lack of any original idea whatsoever), the time just seemed right.
1997 also saw McCarty Party move off the hallowed grounds of McCarty Estates and relocate somewhat southward to… Dale’s place. It was supposed to have been the first McCarty Party to be broadcast live over the Internet, but things didn’t quite work out. Obviously technology and alcohol don’t mix (at least not as well as say… alcohol and orange juice). In the end, it was a throw-back to earlier times (and by that we mean less beer and fewer people). On the upside, a new party record was set (okay… the record was for “latest date ever for distribution of the invitation”). It’s not our fault that the invitation was only distributed at the party itself. And besides, many of you managed to show up anyway!
