McCarty Party ’83, “Your Basic Survival Party,” was a lesson in humility for the McCarty Brothers (admitted, it didn’t really humble either one of us very much). First of all, it was 108 degrees in the shade. And the DJ sucked. And the party ended (for the most part) by 11:00 pm.
Oh sure, the planning was better and some new features were added. McCarty Party t-shirts made their first appearance, and it was the first party to have a theme and a logo. But somehow, the spontaneity of throwing yourself through a fence was lost. So the next year (and of course, we were way too far into the whole thing for there not to be another party the next year) was a chance for the McCarty Brothers to redeem themselves.
