McCarty Party 1996: Ale University

Final Commencement Ceremonies

The last annual McCarty Party held at McFarm featured the first time we ever had (okay, paid for…) more than one live performer. The Time Goblins joined Ale University band director Jim Merrick in providing music to accompany your mirth.

The main attraction, however, turned out to be Charlie’s parrot… who watched the proceedings safely perched in the Party Tree (when not riding the shoulder of some buxom blond or shapely brunette). Also, due to an inspired burst of indecision, McCarty Party ’96 was the first year to have 2 official logos.

And so, as a village of tents covered the grounds of the family farm for one final time, we all graduated to better beer and much smaller future versions of McCarty Party. Congratulations to all who attended the party (AKA, the Ale University class of ’96).

Huey’s 1996 Farewell Address

Frankly, I’m glad it’s over. I’m sick and tired of saving Mike and Dale’s collective asses each year when they go brain dead trying to come up with a party theme. It seems like every time I turned around they were shoving a damn martini under my beak and making me pose for another logo.

I never understood that martini glass thing in the first place. McCarty Party has always been a BEER party for pity’s sake. Hell, I don’t even drink martinis… or beer! The God’s honest truth is, I’ve always been a whiskey-drinking bird myself. But to get a decent drink (Jim Beam, not Bud Light!) at a McCarty Party, I had to sneak in my own (which I started doing around ’87 or so).

So anyway, I’m outta here after the big 15 year affair. I’m retiring to a pretty little island in the Caribbean, and I’m going to do my best to forget all about this craziness.
